A Falconer File Christmas short story by best-selling author Andrea Frazer.
A regional television programme, Get One Over, where amateurs search for and discover antiques and valuable objects in junk shops, has captured the nation’s zeitgeist and gone nationwide.
The Christmas episode is to be filmed in Market Darley, and both antiques fan, Miss Emily Jarvis, and DI Falconer and DS Carmichael plan to be in town to bump into the stars of the programme. Carmichael loves the programme for its jokey narrator, but Falconer, along with a host of other viewers, hates the man’s rude and condescending commentary.
But on a crispy cold December morning, as the chase around the town to find the TV stars continues, it proves to be a terminal performance for one of their number.

Having enjoyed the first Falconer File book so much, I decided to break the bank (a whole whopping 99¢) and treat myself to a Falconer File Christmas digital short story.The Christmas episode of popular television program Get One Over is to be filmed in Market Darley. While the contestants search for antiques and other valuable objects in the local shops, fans are gathering to rub elbows with the stars. Detective Inspector Falconer and Detective Sergeant Carmichael will both be there-- Carmichael because he loves the humorous commentator-- but Falconer has the exact opposite reaction to the star... and so do many other viewers.
Although it was fun to see Market Darley decked out for Christmas, I have to admit that this story was a few pages too short. Just as I'd gotten settled in-- boom!-- it was over. Still, I did enjoy watching Falconer and Carmichael discover that some people take their television much too seriously!

A ripoff. Obvious plot. Too short to be called a short story. Not worth 99 cents.
I must admit I love all the Falconer Files. The characters are funny and stories are well written.
It's a quick read at a busy time. I'm going g to sound like a prude now, but, can't rap my mind around the reason for the crime. If this is a reason, half of us would be dead and the other half fearing for their lives!
It seemed to be a VERY short short story, but I enjoy all of the Falconer books, so I was glad I downloaded it. I hope there will be more books in this series, as I have already read all those available on !
When I began this short story I thought it would be an entertaining mystery but it was no mystery who the killer was and very little entertainment value in my opinion. The characters were not very memorable nor was the setting. Perhaps if I had read the series of book's from the beginning I would feel differently.
