I liked nearly everything about this book. It held my attention (which is not usual, recently), and, while there is some explicit sex, it does not overwhelm the story. The characters are nicely drawn and consistent. The only thing missing is the lack of presentation of the brothers who are the subjects of the sequels. I recommend this book.

This is the first time that I have read anything by Bradford. I liked the characters and plot but I found it a bit boring. I will finish this series and reserve judgement on the whole.
I didn’t even finish the book. I didn’t like it at all. It seemed drab & boring.
I really liked Augusta (GUS) for her tenancious and down to earth attitude towards life. It was a delight to have a heroine who was sensible without being overbearing. Harry, like his friends, was first captured by the superficial appearances, but with the love of his family and some common sense he soon understood the worth of a good woman, whose inner beauty of a sound character outshines the selfishness of outer beauty. A good read!!!
This was good. Not as good as some others but good. I think there could have been a lot more sexual tension portrayed for the reader and so a lost opportunity, but not bad. However it is not one of those books that I would read again.
I liked that it book because it was n't all about the damsel mooning over the aristocrat until the end of the story but rather about the development of a relationship and overcoming hurdles as the relationship grows. Although it did take a little time for Harry to fully realize the depth of his feelings for Gus, the main plot is really about the growth of their relationship and how they help one another. Especially how Gus brings Harry back to life. I truly enjoyed this book.
I really liked this book. I like that Gus, the heroine, is not beautiful, but she becomes beautiful in Harry's eyes because of her personality and intelligence. The book paces well, and there are moments of humor (I loved Gus's reaction when the musicians showed up!). I understand Harry's feelings...he was a healthy, happy young man with the world on a string, and suddenly, he's disabled. His acceptance of kismet was lovely, I like when characters fall in love and there are no villains or misunderstandings in the way...real love offers enough challenges! The book drags a bit toward the end, but nothing major. I like the author's writing style and look forward to reading more of her books.
I was beginning to despair after three DNFs and two books that should have been DNFs but there was nothing else in the house to read. Then I picked up this one, the start of Isabella Bradford's new series.

Not only is it elegantly written, but it has fully developed and interesting characters who grow in believable ways. While recovering from his injuries, Harry comes to love Gus even though she is not as perfectly beautiful as her sister. Then he must grow enough to believe that he can be loved even though his injuries have left him limping and imperfect.
